1st December observed as world AIDS day
1st December is observed across the World as World Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome Day. The day is observed to raise awareness about the human immune deficiency virus infection. Theme of the day is ‘Getting to zero, End AIDS by 2030.

Union Government launched IPV injection as part of Global Polio Endgame Strategy
The Union Government on 30 November 2015 launched the injectable Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) as part of its commitment to the Global Polio Endgame Strategy. It was launched in New Delhi by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda. It is part of next step in India's universal immunization programme to fight against polio in the country.

‘Dr abdul kalam ignite award’ presented by President Pranab Mukherjee
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Award is a national competition of original technological ideas and innovations by children up to class 12 or those out of school up to the age of 17 years. President Pranab Mukharjee presented these award 40 school students of 27 districts from 18 states. These awards are announced every year on 15 October on the birth anniversary Dr APJ Abdul Kalam which is celebrated as the Children's Creativity and Innovation Day.

Women can cast votes for first time in Saudi Arabia
For the first time in the country's history, Saudi Arabia will officially count the opinions of female citizens in its national elections on Dec ember 12. More than a thousand women could appear on the ballots.

Russian film-maker Eldar Ryazanov passed away
Eldar Ryazanov, one of the most popular Russian film directors of the Soviet era, died on 30 November 2015 following the prolonged illness at the age of 88.

UN chief launched Anticipate, Absorb, Reshape Initiative to build climate resilience
The United Nations (UN) Chief Ban Ki-moon along with the agencies of the UN system on 30 November 2015 launched initiative titled Anticipate, Absorb, Reshape to build climate resilience in the world’s most vulnerable countries. The initiative was launched during the United Nations climate change conference (COP21) in Paris.

IMF approved China's Yuan as Elite Reserve Currency
International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 30 November 2015 included China's Yuan into its elite reserve currency basket. Yuan's entry into the basket takes effect from 1 October 2016.
