introduce `priest at your doorstep'

AP endowments department has decided to introduce a novel scheme,
"Bhaktuni Chentaku Bhagvantudu" (God visiting the devotee), from the
Telugu new year Ugadi.

As part of the programme, the priest of the local temple will visit families to
bless them on seven special occasions related to birth and marriage. In case of
death, the priest from the local Shiva temple will visit the family concerned.

unfurls India's largest and tallest Tricolour in Ranchi

Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday hoisted India's tallest and
largest Tricolour at the famous Pahari Mandir in Ranchi on the occasion of
119th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

The Pahari Mandir is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in Jharkhand.
The Tricolour is 66 feet in height, 99 feet in width and it is hoisted on a 293
feet tall pole.

Indian Railways is looking to cash in on India’s booming $4 billion e-commerce
industry to boost revenue from its freight operations.

In the upcoming Railway Budget, the Union government may soon look to tap into
various sectors of the economy including automobile sector, e-commerce industry
and the consumer goods (FMCG) segment to deliver goods.

The Indian Railways is also exploring ways in which it can help in door-to-door
transportation of goods.
India Submits First Biennial
Update Report to UNFCCC

India submitted its first Biennial Update Report (BUR), to the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), towards fulfillment of the
reporting obligation under the Convention.

As per the provisions of the Convention, countries need to periodically provide
information in the form of their National Communication.
India welcomes amendments in
Nepal Constitution

India described the first amendment of the Nepali Constitution, undertaken late
on Saturday night, as “welcome developments”.
>>
An official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs expressed
support for the legislative process, and added, “We hope that other outstanding
issues are similarly addressed in a constructive spirit.”

All the three elements of the amendment were part of a deal between the Nepal
government and its mainstream political parties, and the rebel Madhesi
political formation of United Madhesi Democratic Front (UMDF), which has been
agitating for the changes in the Constitution.
