MoU signed for ultra mega steel plant in Chhattisgarh

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishment of a three-million-tonne ultra mega steel plant (UMSP) was signed on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit of Chhattisgarh on 9 May 2015. The MoU for the same was signed between the state govt., SAIL and NMDC for this greenfield project. SAIL would have equity of 74% while NMDC would hold remaining 26% in the project.

Meghalaya C M launched Next Generation Network (NGN) of BSNL

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma launched the Next Generation Network (NGN) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) at U Soso Tham auditorium in Shillong. The NGN is an IP based network which replaces the present wire line telephone officering various facilities seminal to mobile technology. The NGN facility will be extended to major towns of the State. With the introduction of NGN facility, the internet speed can go upto 24 mbps and higher in the near future.

K.V. Kamath appointed as head of BRICS Bank

Eminent banker K.V. Kamath was today appointed as head of the 50 billion dollars New Development Bank being set up by the five emerging economies of BRICS grouping. Finance Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi in New Delhi said, Mr Kamath will have a five-year term of the bank, which is likely to be operationalised within one year.
