World Laughter day observed (May 3)
World Laughter day observed today (first Sunday of
May). First World Laughter Day was observed on 10th January 1998, in Mumbai,
India. This day was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide
Laughter Yoga movement.
World Press Freedom day (May
3)
The World Press Freedom day was observed globally on 3
May 2015. Every year, over 100 national celebrations take place to commemorate
this day. This year, the theme of World Press Freedom day is Let Journalism
Thrive! Towards better reporting, gender equality and media safety in the
digital age.
BHEL commissioned 195 MW Thermal Unit in Bihar
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), the state
owned power equipment maker, on 4 April 2015 commissioned a 195 MW thermal unit
of Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUNL) in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
The Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited (KBUNL) has
been developed as a joint venture between BHEL, NTPC and Bihar State Power
Generation Company (BSPGCL).
NTPS & Jharkhand Govt. signed
agreement
National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Ltd on 3
May 2015 signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Jharkhand Government for
forming a Joint Venture Company for managing Patratu Thermal Power Station
(PTPS). It will be promoted by NTPC and Jharkhand Bidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd.
(JBVNL) with 74:26 equity participation.
cow-urine refinery inaugurated in
Rajasthan
A cow-urine refinery was inaugurated in Jalore
district, Rajasthan for research on the cow products. Aim is to develop a
scientific approach for Indian traditional system of medicine. The refinery will
prepare cow-urine extract for use in the formulation of various products. A
Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Jodhpur's Ayurveda University and
the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
Rajasthan Government has signed MoU
to fight malnutrition
Rajasthan Government has inked a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with National Health Mission (NHM), UNICEF and Global
Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to tackle the severe problem
malnourishment in the state.
It will help to implement the state government
programme which was announced during the state budget. In this budget the state
government had announced that special attention will be given to the children
falling out of medical reach in state.
