International
Anti-Corruption Day observed across the world
International
Anti-Corruption Day is observed across the world on 9 December. Aim to
celebrate this day is to raise awareness about the menace of Corruption and
what people can do to fight it.
The day has
been observed annually since the passage of the United Nations Convention
against Corruption on October 31, 2003.
December 9,
2006 was the first International Anti-Corruption Day observed in India, signing
the UN Convention against corruption.
Maharashtra
becomes first state allowing MLAs to raise online question
The Maharashtra
legislature has become the first state in the country to launch an online
mechanism for its members to send questions and move different motions in the
House. State government has launched a website mls.org.in as part of Digital
MLAs initiative in the winter session of state legislature in Nagpur.
MOU
signed between Ministry of Textile& MSME
Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) has been signed on 8th December, 2015, between Ministry of
Textiles, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) &
National Textile Corporation (NTC) in order to set up a Technology Centre (Tool
Room) at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Supreme
Court ordered to include acid attack victims in disability list
The Supreme Court directed
all states and Union territories to include acid-attack survivors on the
disability list.
This order issued on
a petition filed by an NGO, Parivartan Kendra.
With this order acid-attack survivors can get the right of reservation
to government jobs and education benefits under the quota for disabled persons.
Beijing
Air Pollution Reaches 'Red Alert' for First Time
The first ever
"red alert" for poor air quality was issued for Beijing, China, by
the city government due to heavy smog this week. This alert began on Tuesday
morning and will be in effect until Thursday.
Main reason for this
red alert has been considered as a High pressure over the area has provided
almost calm winds, allowing pollutants to build up with little to no influx of
fresh air.
UNGA:
International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of Victims of Crime of genocide
observed on 9th December
The UN General
Assembly (UNGA) on 11th Sep 2015 adopted the resolutions proclaiming 9th
December as International Day of Commemoration & Dignity of the Victims of
the Crime of genocide and of the prevention of this Crime.
Two new
teams announced for IPL
Indian Premier League
(IPL) Governing Council announced two new teams — Pune and Rajkot as the replacements
for the suspended Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
New Rising, the
Kolkata-based businessman Sanjiv Goenka’s company, bought the Pune franchise,
while Rajkot was won by Intex Mobiles through reverse bidding. Pune and Rajkot
will be franchises for a period of two years.
