Google’s new app to help 20 mn Indian SMBs go online by 2017


v Search engine giant Google today said it aims to bring 20 million small and medium businesses in India online by 2017 through its mobile app, Google My Business (GMB).
v The GMB app will help small and medium businesses (SMBs) create and manage their business information online across Google in English and Hindi for free, without having to invest in a website or a domain.
v “In the next three years, India will have over 500 million internet users, who will search for information, including local businesses. The search experience for local business in India is broken today and we want to help connect businesses and customers,” Google South East Asia and India VP and Managing Director Rajan Anandan told reporters here.
Through its new GMB initiative, Google aims to help 20 million SMBs in the country get their information online by 2017.

Delhi Government approved mandatory GPS in public transport from June 2015

v Delhi Government approved mandatory Global Positioning System (GPS) in all public transport vehicles from June 2015.
v The decision was taken keeping in view the security and safety of commuters, especially women. The GPS devices will be available from Driving Licence Appointment and Payment System (DIMTS).

v The 24-hour channel will air information on farmer-related issues. The government has made it a must carry channel making it mandatory for cable and Direct to Home, DTH operators to provide it to their subscribers.

Delhi government ties up with Rotary club to revamp schools

v Delhi Government has tied up with Rotary Club for revamping government schools in the national capital by upgrading sanitation and strengthening basic infrastructure facilities like drinking water and toilets.
v In the first phase of the plan, Rotary Club will launch a hygiene campaign at 300 government schools and improve cleanliness there besides working on basic facilities for the students.
v At a recent meeting of officials and representatives of Rotary Club, Deputy CM and Education minister Manish Sisodia discussed the campaign and assured them government help in running the campaign.

Expert committee on Health Insurance suggest changes in disclaimer wordings

v An expert committee on Health Insurance has suggested changing the wordings of disclaimer in advertisements of insurance companies. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, IRDAI mandates that all insurance companies issue a disclaimer, “Insurance is a subject matter of solicitation”, in all their advertisements.
v The report of the Expert Committee said the disclaimer needs to be reworded as — “before buying, know the conditions and exclusions, to make a well-informed decision.” The report has also recommended that there should be greater transparency and clarity to enable policy holders to understand the boundaries of coverage in their policies.
