Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das inaugurated the states land bank web portal, jharbhoom.nic.in that would help investors to know land-related information. Land bank will help investors to get information through district-wise nodal officers, along with this mobile numbers and email ID of officers will be available on the website.

Former Chief Justice of India Sarosh Homi Kapadia passed away
Ex-Chief Justice of India Sarosh Homi Kapadia passed away on 4 January 2016 in Mumbai. He was 68. Kapadia is survived by wife and a son and a daughter.
He retired on 29 September 2012. During his tenure as CJI, he served as the Chairman of the General Council of the Gujarat National Law University and the Visitor of the National Law School of India University.

Toilets made mandatory to contest Panchayat polls in Bihar
State election commissioner (SEC) Ashok Kumar Chauhan on 4 January 2016 announced that toilets will be mandatory requirement for eligibility to contest panchayat elections. This declaration means that no one can contest the Bihar panchayat elections scheduled in 2016 without having a toilet at their home.

India-Nepal Bus Service resumed after 27 years
India-Nepal Bus Service resumed after a gap of 27 years. The service was suspended 27 years ago in the wake of the Indo-Nepal Trade and Transit Treaty. The service runs between Kanchanpur in Nepal, which is close to Banbasa border in Champavat district of Uttarakhand, and Anand Vihar ISBT in Delhi.

Neemuchwala appointed as Wipro’s CEO  
Abid Ali Z. Neemuchwala appointed as Wipro’s CEO. He will replace T.K. Kurien, who has been appointed as the Executive Vice Chairman. Both the appointments will be effective from 1 February 2016. Wipro is a multi-national IT consulting and system integration firm being headed by its Chairman Azim Premji.

Sri Lank and Pakistan signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA)
Sri Lanka and Pakistan have agreed to expand their bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) by inclusion of services and investment. Statement in this regard was made by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his official visit to Sri Lanka.
The FTA between Sri Lanka and Pakistan came into effect in June 2005. Since the Pakistan’s exports to Sri Lanka were to the tune of 150 million dollars. Sri Lanka’s exports to Pakistan were valued at about 52 million dollars, accounting for around 70 per cent of the country’s total exports to Pakistan.

Nokia completed acquisition of Alca-Lucent for 15.6 billion euro
Nokia Corporation announced that it completed the regulatory formalities for acquiring the French telecom equipment company Alca-Lucent. The deal, worth 15.6 billion euro, was signed in 2014 and later approved by the European Commission.

15-year-old Pranav Dhanawade scores a record 1009
Pranav Dhanawade, who has broken a century-old cricketing record, became the first batsman to score 1000-plus runs in an innings in any form of cricket. Batting against Arya Gurukul School in a Bhandari Cup match, Pranav reached 1000 runs in just 323 balls. The tournament is an under-16 inter-school event organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) mainly for the benefit of suburban schools.
